Assessment, Technology, and Marketing KC Call: Managing and Maximizing Your Social Media Presence During COVID-19

This March, it will be one year of a global pandemic. This pandemic has not only taken a toll on the creation of social content but has been particularly challenging on our social media managers. This event will provide a space to discuss these challenges, how we are overcoming them, how we are thinking outside of the box to engage students in a virtual world and how we can support the individuals managing our social media accounts. 

This virtual event will kick off with a few brief minutes sharing some data and notes on How the Pandemic is Changing Social Media and our Social Media Managers. We will then go into an open forum discussion where we will have 10 minutes per topic to share our thoughts in an effort to grow and learn from one another. We ask that attendees review the topics below beforehand and prepare any information that may benefit the conversation.

  1. TECHNOLOGY:
    1. What social media platforms are you utilizing? Which of the platforms are you putting forth the most effort?
    2. What tools are being utilized to manage, organize, schedule, analyze content?
    3. What technology are you utilizing to create multimedia content?
  2. ASSESSMENT:
    1. What content is receiving the least/highest engagement on your accounts?
    2. Have you seen any data patterns with your social media accounts or content since the pandemic?
    3. Have you assessed if social media is having an impact on your overall career center initiatives? If so, how did you assess, and what was the outcome?
  3. MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS:
    1. What tactics or outreach have you utilized to increase engagement with your content?
    2. What tactics or outreach have you utilized to increase followers on your platforms?
    3. Has this pandemic prompted you to implement any form of social media crisis communications plans OR social media response protocols?
  4. MANAGEMENT:
    1. Who manages your social media? What are their responsibilities/expectations?
    2. What challenges does your social media manager(s) face? How are you addressing these challenges?
    3. What goals do you have set for your social media manager(s) or your social media platforms?
