Focus on your personal career strategy

In the field of career development it can be easy to lose sight of your own career goals. Hire Big 10+’s new Personal Career Strategy Groups are designed to connect consortium members to engage in structured career development conversations that focus on personal professional goals.  Groups of 4-5 participants will meet to discuss personal professional development and functional topics.  For the initial pilot of this program,  groups will meet bi-weekly from October through mid-December. Connect with colleagues, learn from peers, gain skills and plan for the next stage in your career!

Top four reasons you should join:

      • You time - Dedicated time to focus on your personal career strategy and set career goals.
      • Structure with flexibility - Groups will be guided with topics, discussion questions, and activities, but you and your group decide where the conversation goes.
      • Small groups - Connect with and learn from colleagues at different levels, institutions and a variety of experiences, but in an intimate environment where you can build relationships with one another.
      • Free professional development opportunity - In times of tight budgets and professional development funds lacking, take advantage of this free opportunity!

Who should join?

All are welcome! This is for new and mid career professionals, as well as seasoned leaders. Whether you’re just starting out, or maybe you feel as though you’re at a plateau or asking yourself “what's next?”, this is for you.

Discussion Topics

Upon registering, members will indicate interest in a variety of topics. Members will be grouped together based on interests, and each group will be provided with resources and activities to facilitate group discussions around their chosen topics. Topics include, but aren’t limited to, planning your career trajectory, personal branding, presenting at conferences, performing research, how not to fear data, managing staff, teaching, revenue generation, and more!

View all of the potential topics on the registration form.

Time commitment

The pilot will kick off October 2021 and will wrap up in December 2021. You’ll be provided a suggested schedule, but your group has ultimate control over scheduling and timing of your meetings. To get the most out of your meeting time, we recommend 90 minutes every other week.
